Vegan Pearls
Q: What makes your pearl jewellery vegan?
A: We use high quality crystal pearls for all of our pearl jewellery, a type of man-made, imitation pearl named for their crystal glass core which is covered in a special pearlescent coating which perfectly replicates the beauty of natural pearls.
Unlike with other glass pearls, this coating does not contain animal-derived products, such as fish scales, making them 100% vegan and cruelty-free.
Q: Are your pearls made from plastic?
A: No, while we do only use man-made, imitation pearls for all of our jewellery, we never use plastic pearls. Instead we use high quality crystal pearls, made from crystal glass which are much closer to natural pearls in terms of weight and feel.
Q: Is your jewellery certified as being vegan by any organisations?
A: Yes, all of our jewellery is PETA-approved vegan which means that all of the materials and components we use have been rigorously checked and approved as 100% vegan and cruelty-free by the internationally recognised charity PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
Jewellery Care
Q: How should I care for my jewellery?
A: We want your Vellva jewellery to be your go-to for years to come! To keep your jewellery looking fresh for as long as possible, we recommend avoiding all exposure to water, sweat and chemicals by removing your jewellery before activities like showering, bathing, working out, and applying products like perfumes or creams.
Q: How should I store my jewellery?
A: When you’re not wearing your jewellery, we recommend storing each piece individually somewhere secure, dry, and out of direct sunlight to keep it looking its best for as long as possible - the box or bag your jewellery arrived in is perfect!
Sustainability
Q: Is your packaging recyclable?
A: Yes! Our packaging has been carefully chosen to keep our environmental impact to a minimum by making sure we're using as little packaging as possible, and trying to make sure each item we do use is recyclable.
Please see below for how to dispose of each element:
* The box: we recommend keeping your jewellery box to store your new jewellery in, however both the box and the insert are made fromFSC®-certified cardboard and can be recycled with regular household paper and cardboard items. The postcard - recycle with waste paper and cardboard.
* The bag: we recommend keeping your jewellery bag to store your new jewellery in, however it can be recycled at a clothing and textiles recycling point. Click here for more information.
* The envelope: made with 100% recycled paper and containing corrugated cardboard rather than plastic bubblewrap, Vellva envelopes are biodegradable and compostable, and can be recycled with paper and cardboard items if the glue strip is removed.
